{"id":1004,"date":"2020-10-09T16:23:11","date_gmt":"2020-10-09T08:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.powerpartners-awi.com\/?p=1004"},"modified":"2024-01-12T03:25:38","modified_gmt":"2024-01-12T03:25:38","slug":"news-equinix-buys-mapletree-industrials-singapore-data-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.powerpartners-awi.com\/uat\/news-equinix-buys-mapletree-industrials-singapore-data-center\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS : Equinix buys Mapletree Industrial\u2019s Singapore data center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.powerpartners-awi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Resize-MapleTree_Equinix_Ext_408-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1007 aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Equinix Singapore has agreed to buy Mapletree Industrial Trust\u2019s Singapore data center for US$91.2 million (S$125 million).<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Equinix Singapore gave notice to Mapletree that they wish to purchase the SG3 data center, for which they had been a fully leased tenant of since 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The seven-storey data center was the only facility in Mapletree\u2019s portfolio that provided Equinix with the option to purchase the data center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The US$91.2 million sale price was valued by Savills Valuation and Professional Services on March 31 2020, taking into account a 23.3% premium over the development cost of US$74 million (S$101.4 million).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Mapletree announced in a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/links.sgx.com\/FileOpen\/20200814_Exercise%20of%20Option%20to%20Purchase%2026A%20Ayer%20Rajah%20Crescent%20by%20Equinix%20Singapore.ashx?App=Announcement&amp;FileID=628049\"><span>Singapore Exchange filing<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0on Friday that the data center brought in approximately 2.2% of the real estate investment trust\u2019s gross revenue for the year ending March 31 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The deal between Equinix Singapore and Mapletree is expected to be paid in cash by the fourth quarter of 2020, subject to the approval of JTC Corporation, the government agency responsible for industrial development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Proceeds from the sale will be used to fund other Mapletree investments, reduce any existing debt or make distributions to unit holders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The SG3 data center located at 26A Ayer Rajah Crescent, near Queenstown in Singapore, is Equinix\u2019s largest data center in Asia Pacific, spanning 35,000 square metres and containing a 5,000 rack capacity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>For full news article, read from<\/em> <\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Equinix Singapore has agreed to buy Mapletree Industrial Trust\u2019s Singapore data center for US$91.2 million (S$125 million).
